We have just returned from a well earned break in Kos in the Greek islands. Very hot and very relaxing doing very little really and allowing ourselves some time to unwind. But now we are back and straight into more photographic adventures for our clients.

Over the weekend we had lots of excitement at the wedding of Karen and Phillip at Moxhull Hall in Sutton Coldfield. With lots of guests in colourful outfits and hats, glorious weather, a steel band and a lovely young, up and coming soprano, Harlee Gresty who had everyone moved by her amazing voice, it was certainly an action packed day that James and myself will remember for a long time.

Today I met up with former Express & Star colleague and ITV journalist Vicky Hoe and I'm really looking forward to doing her and Stuart's wedding next month in the lovely Alrewas Hayes in Staffordshire. This new wedding venue has amazing photo opportunities around every corner and I will be in my element shooting a great location with a great couple!

Birmingham provided us with a chance to do some urban street fashion pics the other day with Claire and Che assisted us with hair and holding the odd light stand now and then. We used my Elinchrom Ranger kit with a beauty dish to provide a strong & defining soft light. Looking forward to doing the Paul Weller gig on Cannock Chase at the end of June. We have a few weddings lined up for July and very shortly we are going to be having a bit of a gallery to feature across two floors of a ladies gym so with the re branding and marketing it is quite a productive period.

I recently had fun doing a family shoot on a lovely farm location in Worcestershire. Dick Sally and the boys together with their grandparents provided some warm and lovely images to match their beautiful surroundings. I got the chance to try out a "Bladd" with a Phase One P30 back (courtesy of The Flash Centre - Thanks Bri!) and the files it creates are amazing.

This was shot the other day when we did a TTD shoot in a foundry. The dress on this occasion was totally destroyed as it ended up being put into one of the furnaces after the shoot and Gill and Rob had the dress cast into a lamp post!

Trash The Dress

Well all you brides now have the chance to wear your dress again and be photographed in some unusual locations and situations where the normal wedding pictures would not have afforded on the big day. Usually after a wedding the dress is put away in the loft or sold on eBay and a trash shoot can give a bride the freedom to wear her dress again, have fun and create some stunning images in a more artistic and diverse way. It can be a liberating and fitting way to say farewell to the dream dress and experience the magic of wearing it again in a non traditional way. There is absolutely no pressure on a bride, however, to ruin or destroy the dress unless she wants to of course!

For you photographers the pics here mostly used one light, an Elinchrom Ranger kit with a beauty dish/bowl attached. The sky and background was under exposed by a stop or two and by upping the flash power it has given the colours a bit of a kick. The Ranger is ideal as a self powered unit and it has plenty of power when needed. A single speedlight could have been used but sometimes you just need the punch! Monika did a grand job on the day at this car scrapyard and despite the weather being very cold she did a fantastic job and we all had great fun (make sure folks you keep the "enjoyment factor". It certainly turned heads as we did the shoot and I'm planning to do more urban styled shoots in places like these.

Hi, I have finally got around to setting up "the blog" and hopefully you will find it interesting. Its purpose will be twofold 1) to encourage and inspire other photographers - we all learn from each other at all levels of experience and ability. The posts will give opportunity to add details of shoots, techniques, ideas and anything else that hopefully will bring inspiration. 2) The other side will be for clients to see their work and even future clients to see some of what me and my assistant James do.
